Working in partnership with salespeople, traders, research analysts and quantitative analysts – and divisions such as Legal, Compliance and Operations – our Structuring business develops and delivers customised products and solutions to investors and financial institutions.
Structurers create and price structured derivatives, and assist in marketing and executing transactions. This is a highly complex area, so an essential part of the training is learning how the market works through research and working with traders. You'll learn how to build and use pricing models and, as your knowledge improves, take responsibility for various sales groups, often travelling to meet clients.
A career in structuring will provide a view of how products are developed, priced and executed, with the chance to follow many exciting future opportunities in a number of areas. Structurers have very strong analytical abilities, and those focusing on product development usually have advanced qualifications in technical subjects such as engineering and financial markets. You'll also need communication, marketing and relationship skills, plus attention to detail.
